“Every form of art is another way of seeing the world. Another perspective, another window. And science –that’s the most spectacular window of all. You can see the entire universe from there.”
Hello again my friends. I know I haven’t posted a book review in a while, but the last three weeks have been literally hectic and overwhelming for me, so I barely had a time to actually sit and write. I wasn’t even going to post a review today, because I should pack my clothes and do so many tasks, but you know, books always win, and to be honest I miss writing so bad. Anyways, today I’m going to review A Thousand Pieces Of You series by Claudia Gray. Just to be clear, I only read the two books of the series, because the third one hasn’t come out yet. Let’s begin the review!
This book tells the story of Marguerite Caine. She is the daughter of two intelligent physicists. Her parents invented the Firebird device, which gives people the actual ability to travel into various dimensions. Paul and Theo are the two brilliant students who assist Marguerite’s parents with their inventions, and scientific experiences or projects. When Paul Markov betrayed the Caine family, and killed Marguerite’s father, he leaped into another world to escape the consequences of his actions. Now Margureite has only one mission, to track Paul, the killer of her father, with the help of Theo. However, Marguerite and Theo have to use the FireBird device carefully, because if it gets broken or damaged, they won’t be able to return home. Along the journey of seeking vengeance for her father, Marguerite will come meet different versions of Paul in each dimension she travels to. Unfortunately, that will make it more complicated to kill him, and get back home. That leaves us all with one question, Will things go as Marguerite plans?
To be honest, I bought this book because of its incredibly artistic cover. But it was so much better than I expected. The concept of the book is literally mind blowing. I love how tough and courageous Marguerite is. Traveling through alternate dimensions, tracking the killer of her father, saving The Firebird device, and her family! It’s an action packed book with so many scientific theories and explanations about dimensional travel, and The Firebird device. I liked Ten Thousand Pieces Of You more than A Thousand Pieces Of You, because the plot was full of twists, and some parts of the book were unpredictable and shocking. The end was such a cliffhanger. I just can’t wait for the third book to come out to find out what will happen to Marguerite. I highly recommend this series if you’re into dystopian/scientific fiction books.
