Good morning all. Today I’ll talk about Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella. Audrey is a 14 year old girl who wears black glasses all the time to avoid making eye contact with other people. She has two brothers, Frank, her older brother who’s literally obsessed with video games, and Felix the younger one. Audrey has a social anxiety disorder from a terrible incident that has happened in her school, which has forced her to be home schooled.

As the story goes on, Audrey meets her brother’s friend Linus, and as their friendship grows, and deepens, more, they start to connect and fall in love with each others. Linus helps her get through her social anxiety by making her go out more and challenging her to talk randomly with strangers. Even though her family is loud, messy, and fight over silly things all the time, they’re so supportive and loving to each other. It’s a light hearted book and a fast paced read.

This book discusses a serious matter, but it also reminds people who have social anxiety that they’re not alone in this, they can overcome it by trying, stepping out of their comfort zone slowly, having positive thoughts about themselves, and most importantly, to never let it defines them as a person. The story is written in a realistic, hilarious, and touching way that will warm your heart at the end.
